Senior Infants & First Class were very busy exploring all the beautiful colours of autumn.
Inspired by the poem ‘Duilleoga Deasa’ we used cotton buds & paint to create beautiful trees in an autumn landscape.
We also learned about how different animals, such as the native red squirrel, prepare during autumn for the coming winter season.
We then created beautiful pictures of the squirrel using a template, wax crayons, crepe paper & pva glue.
We really enjoyed shredding & sticking the crepe paper.
Junior and Senior Infants constructed their own imaginative homes. Some children also created homes for animals.
Junior Infants enjoyed learning about Minibeasts. They enjoyed a minibeast hunt around the school and collected lots of different minibeasts including snails, slugs, worms, spiders and even a frog! The children also made their own minibeasts using playdoh.
The theme in the Junior Infant room for February was Pirates and Under the Sea. The children learnt about pirates and the different types of creatures that live under the sea. The children enjoyed investigating what items float and sink in water, what materials attract to a magnet and they also had great fun making their own creations based on pirates and creatures under the sea using playdoh, sand and construction bricks. The children also made many different arts and crafts items.
