Wordle

5th Class are joining in on the Wordle craze sweeping the internet at the moment. We are proud of our 100% success rate so far! It is building our vocabulary bank, while being great fun at the same time!

International Day in 5th Class

We celebrated the many cultures represented in our classroom. All the children presented Digital Projects on a country of their choice – where they were born, where their parents were born or a country they were interested to learn about. Many children also created 3D projects based on their chosen country. We learned a lot from each other.

Matthew and Haris presented a great project on Lithuania. Matthew also created a 3D Lithuanian castle and Haris drew a picture of the castle
Harkaur presented a wonderful written project all about Indian culture. We all enjoyed the dancing!
Liliana taught us some Polish words. She also drew a picture and explained the salt mines to us.
Annie and Rochelle worked collaboratively on a project based on Italy. Rochelle drew a wonderful picture of the Colosseum.
Ben and Richard did a lot of research on Russia. Richard created a 3D rocket. He drew inspiration from Yuri Gagarin, a Russian cosmonaut who was the first human to journey into outer space.
Albin did a great project on India. He also created a 3D Eiffel Tower, made using only paper and tape.
Luke presented a great project on Australia. We were all very impressed with his art work showing Australia through images.
Dylan did a great presentation on Portugal. He created a 3D construction of Mount Pico, the largest mountain range in Portugal. He told us it is on the Azores.
Ignas told us all about Lithuania in his presentation. He had visited many of the famous landmarks he showed us.
Odhrán did a lot of research about Australia. He presented it very well to the class. We were interested in his facts about Ayers Rock, which is also known as Uluru.
Cuán presented information about Germany. We enjoyed the quiz at the end of the presentation.

Ose taught us all about Nigeria. She brought in 3000 naira, which is about €6.

Molly did great research on China and did a great presentation.

Lee did a wonderful digital project on Vietnam.

Science Week in 5th Class

Discovering Density : We discussed the word ‘hypothesis’ and wrote down what we expected to happen in the experiment.

We read each step of the method carefully and enjoyed getting involved in the process.

We asked some interesting questions while learning about density. Our results were interesting.

Science Experiments

We did lots of interesting science experiments this week in the Haven on our July Programme.

We did a Skittles experiment. We put the Skittles into warm water. We watched carefully as the colours spread out in the water.

We also made butter. We poured Double Cream into a jar and put on the lid. We shook for a long time!

Butter formed! We drained away the extra liquid. We spread the butter on crackers and ate it.

We also made slime by mixing cornflour and water. We enjoyed mixing it!

We made lemon volcanos by cutting lemons in half and adding washing up liquid, food colouring and baking powder. When we mixed these ingredients into the lemon, a foam occured.

Our final experiment was the diet coke and mentos experiment. We enjoyed watching the reaction!
