May in the Infant Room

We had great fun this month and learnt so much. We explored items that float and sink. We went on a walk around the village and learnt about all the different types of transport vehicles. We made our own vehicles using construction materials. We took part in a Letter and Sound Scavenger Hunt with Ms. Coyle’s class. This was so much fun looking for different sounds and letters in the environment. We learnt about Weight in Maths. We picked daisies in our groups out on the yard and we weighed them using a balance scale.
Ms. Sarsfield kindly treated us to some ice- lollies to cool us down in this warm weather.

The Post Office

For Aistear, The Post Office was set up in the Infant room for the month of April. The children enjoyed writing their own letters to their friends and then would post them in the morning. Ms. Sarsfield was busy delivering the post every morning.
Each child made their own Postbox using a shoe box. Ms Sarsfield would like to thank all the parents/guardians who contributed items for The Post Office.

April Activities in the Infant Room

We had a very busy month in the Infant Room. The children enjoyed the story of The Three Little Pigs. They learnt about all the different kinds of houses and even made their own three houses for the pigs using straw, wood and bricks.
The children created chalk drawings and drew their own houses using 2D shapes.
The children also visited the local church where Fr. Patrick gave them a tour.
The children enjoyed exploring Capacity in Maths and also made their own musical instruments.

Summer is here!

During the current sunny, warm weather parents are reminded to ensure all children have adequate sunscreen coverage to protect their young skin from the sun.

Assembly

As a farewell to Fr Patrick, we will be having an assembly on Friday 10th June at 1.15pm. All children are asked to bring in €1 each towards a gift from the children to be presented to Fr Patrick at the assembly. Please have the €1 sent in to school by this Friday 3rd June, to give time to purchase a gift. All parents, friends etc are invited to attend and the children may go home after assembly if they wish.

Girls’ Football Final

The girls’ Cuman na mBunscol football final will be held in McHale Park on Wednesday 1st June at 6.45pm.  All team members MUST be at the venue by 6pm the very latest; there are several finals on from early afternoon and the area will be busy.

Dressing rooms are located under the main stand.  Please leave gear stacked neatly when heading out to play as you may be sharing a changing room.

Parents and all observing on the side line are asked to show encouragement to the children that are playing; please show respect to referees and officials.

Please refrain from using abusive and inappropriate language. Unintentional and accidental slips are often heard in the heat of the moment. Remember this is a competition for children, involving children.
