Mass for All Souls

Mass for All Souls will be held in the school hall on Wednesday 20th November at 11.30am.  All parents and members of our school community are invited to attend.

Uniforms

Now that winter has arrived children are free to wear their tracksuits to school if they wish.  They can also continue wearing their uniforms if preferred.

2nd, 4th, 6th Classes – HSE Consent Forms

Please ensure all HSE consent forms that went out recently to 2nd, 4th and 6th class children, are returned by Friday 15th November, so they can be collected by the Dental Clinic. Thank you

Christmas Annuals

 

Order forms for Christmas annuals will be distributed this week.  If your child wishes to purchase one, the price is €4.  The school will receive a discount on a bulk order, which will be used to buy a set of library books for our school library.  All order forms and money must be returned to the school no later than Tuesday 26th November please.  We will be unable to process any orders received after this date.

Scouting Ireland/Ballyhaunis Scouts

If you are interested in becoming an adult scout leader, please see the school notice board for further information.  The first free training course commences on 11th November.  Contact FRC Ballyhaunis on 094 9630929 or email ballyhaunisfrc@eircom.net

Fancy Dress Sponsored Walk

Our Sponsored Walk was a fantastic success. We raised an incredible €2,400 for our school. Sincere thank you to Mrs Langan, for organising the event, and to the children, parents, staff and local community for supporting our fundraiser.

ICT Club

ICT Club will commence after mid-term break. It will take place each Thursday evening between 3.00pm and 4.15pm. Children who are interested in participating are asked, along with their parents/guardians, to complete the application form below and return it to Ms Boyle on or before Wednesday 23rd October.

A Google Apps for Education account and a Microsoft Office 365 account will be set up for each child who participates. The workshops will be enjoyable and children will have an opportunity to learn new skills including the following:

  1. Internet Safety Skills
  2. Use of email, contacts and web calendars
  3. Use of digital cameras and photo editing
  4. Use of video camera and editing
  5. Use of Audacity recording and editing software
  6. Create, save, print, upload, download and share electronic files
  7. Cloud computing through the remote storage of electronic files
  8. Create and embed web 2.0 technologies in the school website
  9. Develop improved skills with laptops and chromebooks
  10. Develop improved presentation skills
  11. Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  12. Work towards creating e Portfolios and individual websites

The workshops are suitable for children in fifth and sixth class.
